Quick answer

Enter two dates to find the elapsed calendar days between them. The result includes weekends and leap days; it does not count working days or include both endpoints.

The page and its assets load from the site; this operation uses your entered values only in this browser and does not send them to a calculation endpoint.

How to use it

Choose a start date and an end date, then calculate. The result gives the signed and absolute number of elapsed calendar days; dates are compared from midnight UTC.

Limits

Both dates are compared at UTC midnight; the result is elapsed days, not inclusive counting.

Calendar days, weekends and leap years

From 2024-02-28 to 2024-03-01, the difference is 2 days because February 29 is included. The same dates in 2025 are 1 day apart. Identical start and end dates give 0 days.

Weekends and public holidays are counted like any other date. This is not a business-day or legal-deadline calculator. Dates are compared at midnight UTC, so local daylight-saving clock changes do not add or remove a calendar day.

To find an end date from a starting date and a number of days, use Date Add or Subtract Days.

Frequently asked questions

How is the difference counted?

The calculator measures elapsed calendar days from the start date to the end date. For example, April 1 to April 3 is 2 elapsed days, not 3 inclusive dates.

What if the end date is earlier?

The signed result is negative when the end date comes before the start date; the absolute result stays positive.
