Frequently asked questions
What does the calculation include?
Gross yield = monthly rent × 12 ÷ acquisition cost. Simplified net yield = (annual rent − annual charges entered) ÷ acquisition cost. For example, 900 × 12 ÷ 200,000 = 5.4%; after 1,200 entered charges, (10,800 − 1,200) ÷ 200,000 = 4.8%. Use the same currency and an annual period. Only entered charges are deducted; financing, vacancy, tax, repairs, and other costs are excluded. This is not cash flow or investment advice.
Which values should I enter?
Estimate gross and simplified net rental yield from monthly rent, acquisition cost, and annual charges you choose to deduct. Use consistent amounts, units, and time periods.
Is the result definitive?
No. Check the assumptions and rules that apply to your situation; this is an illustrative calculation, not professional advice.
